SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) -
We are learning more details about a bizarre case of kidnapping and assault out of Springfield Township.
On March 29, a man was jailed on attempted aggravated murder and rape charges after a naked woman wandered into a Springfield Township yard.
The victim told police that Cowan Mitchell II was with his 3-year-old daughter when he picked her up in Downtown Cincinnati on the morning of March 28.
The prosecutor says Mitchell covered the victim's eyes, bound her arms and legs and left her in a basement closet where he sexually assaulted her.
On the morning of March 29, the victim says Mitchell taped a garbage bag over her head and put objects around her to keep her in place while he left the home.
The victim says she bit through the garbage bag so she could breathe, and kicked her way out of the closet.
She then escaped through the garage door and went to a nearby house for help.
The neighbor called 911 after she wandered into the yard with her hands bound and a bag over her head.
A short time later, Mitchell, 34, was arrested. Police gathered evidence from the Compton Road home.
"The evidence that we recovered here at the scene and the condition of the victim (is the reason) we're concerned that there may be...have been other incidents like this," said Springfield Township police chief Dave Heimpold.
On Thursday, a Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted Cowan Mitchell II on attempted murder, rape, kidnapping and felonious assault charges.
