Reds' fans celebrate opening day at block party

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Ten of thousands of people attended Cincinnati's first Opening Day Block Party at the Banks on Thursday, making downtown the place to be all day.

"I'm pumped," said Daniel Frilling. "Last year was my first opening day and I had so much fun I had to come down again, every year I am coming down again. I don't care what my girlfriend says, I am coming down."

Thousands of other fans agree that downtown and particularly The Banks is the place to be.

"This is my first time at The Banks and I'm really enjoying myself tonight," said Jessica Schnweinefus.

"It's awesome," said Chris Smithson. "I am happy they finally put something down here that we can enjoy. It gives us something to do."

The block party featured live music, food and involved many of the establishments in the banks. Fans say the block party is a win for the Queen City.

"This is great, the electricity is awesome, there is something special," said Joseph Fisher. "I hate to quote a movie, but there is something romantic about opening day baseball."
