Murder cases have unusual connection

In a bizarre twist a family member of a couple murdered in Florence is now a "person of interest" in a murder last week in Aurora, Indiana. Bill and Peggy Stephenson were murdered in their home on Memorial Day weekend last May. Several people were questioned by police but no one has been charged to date.

Thursday the Aurora Police were called to a home on Aspen Ridge Road when a neighbor found a woman dead in her home. Leigh Jennings, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.

Charles Robert Stephenson was a friend of Jennings' and is the nephew of Bill and Peggy Stephenson. He had his hair cut by Jennings at a barber shop in Florence. Family members of Jennings told Fox19 News that he wanted her to be his girlfriend but the feeling wasn't mutual. After Jennings body was found Thursday, he was questioned by police and then attempted suicide Monday. He was unsuccessful and is being held in a psychiatric ward in a Cincinnati area hospital.

Fox19 News spoke with the son of Jennings, Ryan Siebe. He said, "she was one of the greatest people I have ever met and I'm not saying it because she's my mother, but because it's true". Neighbors also said Jennings was the type of person who would help anyone for any reason.

No one has been charged in either murder at this time.
