Man rescued from Ohio River

CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - The Clarksville Police and Fire Departments rushed to the Falls of the Ohio to rescue an man who got stuck in the river early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters said they were called by the man who was fishing, saying he had become trapped in the mud about 20 feet from the river bank under the L&N Railroad bridge.

People in the area joined the search with rescuers and found the man stuck in the mud with a fishing pole. One searcher, Tyler Newcomb, told WAVE 3 the man had lost his shoes.

Newcomb said he picked the man up and carried him back to shore.

The man was checked out by EMS workers and taken to Clark Memorial Hospital for observation.
