BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The City of Blue Ash has decided it will not offer to buy the Blue Ash Airport from the City of Cincinnati because of the cost.
Blue Ash had exclusive rights to make the first offer on the property if the City of Cincinnati ever decided to close the airport. Blue Ash decided against purchasing the property because of two outstanding issues. The first is the City of Blue Ash believed the cost of buying, reconfiguring and refurbishing the airport would out weight the potential benefits. They also believe by not buying the property now, a private entity can come forward purchase it and possibly keep the airport operational.
"The Blue Ash Airport means a lot to those in our community who are saddened to see it close," said Mark Weber, Blue Ash Mayor. "While it is not feasible for the City, we would welcome an outside group coming together to keep the airport open and viable."
If no one comes forward to buy the property, Cincinnati has not indicated what it plans to do with the airport once it ceases operations.
