Cincy to receive $3M lead grant from HUD

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati is set to receive a big grant from HUD to help end lead poisoning.

Cincinnati's Department of Community Development, along with other community partners, plan to use the $3 million grant to address lead hazards in at least 240 homes.

Lead, a metal once common in gasoline and house paint, can permanently damage developing brains.

Although banned from house paints in 1978, lead-based paint in deteriorating housing remains the major source of childhood lead poisoning today.
