HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Family and friends gathered together Friday night to put together a memorial to remember the life of murdered teen Chelsea Johnson.
A candlelight vigil was held at Lincoln Park in Hamilton Friday night. Friends and family braved rainy conditions to gather at the park dressed in purple, Chelsea's favorite color, lit candles, and told stories about Chelsea's life.
"I love the support," said Vicky Fible, Chelsea's mother. "I feel a little bit of closure having everyone around. It's awesome."
Krissy Lainhart was a fellow student who attended the memorial. She said about the memorial, "It's so much more than I could ask for. I'm so proud of everybody being here."
"You don't imagine something like this happening to somebody especially at this age. It makes you realize what you have and respect it so much more," said Chelsea's friend Breanna Prater.
Police are still looking for any information they can about her death. Johnson was found stabbed to death in a creek on Monday night, a day after her family last saw her. Police are saying they do not believe this was a random crime and they believe she was targeted.
Johnson was 15-years-old and was a freshman at Fairfield Options Academy.
If you have any information on this case you are asked to call Fairfield Police at 513-829-8201.
