About 25 people were arrested around Ohio University in Athens overnight, but police say they didn't see the major problems of past years. Bars close an hour earlier than usual on the morning daylight savings time begins. Historically, that's led to large public disturbances on city streets and numerous arrests. This year OU officials told students they could be suspended and lose financial aid if they didn't behave themselves. Athens Police Chief Rick Mayer credits that promise and a large police presence with minimizing disturbances. Most of the arrests were for assault, criminal damaging and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
