It took a prison prayer meeting to get inmate Alvin Brooks thinking about giving a cookie to his worst enemy in the Lebanon Correctional facility. Kairos Prison Ministry International organized the three-day event to spread the message of Christianity among prisoners. The weekend was filled with back-slapping hugs, fried chicken and bible verses in the prison gymnasium. To solidify the theme of forgiveness, each of the prisoners who attended the Christian workshop was handed homemade cookies to give to the person they resented the most. Brooks says other inmates asked for cookies as soon as he got back. The 28-year-old was one of 42 inmates at the event put on by Kairos, which stages similar meetings at prisons in 32 states and five foreign countries.
