Police identify woman killed in wrong-way crash on I-71

A woman was killed and a truck driver and his passenger injured when the woman's car came down I-71 the wrong way overnight.

At about 3:35 am, officers of the Montgomery Police Department were dispatched to investigate an auto accident with injuries on northbound I71 just south of the Pfeiffer Rd. exit.  They found that a car traveling southbound on 71 northbound collided with the tractor-trailer.  The car ended up under the truck, and the trailer tumbled into the median.

The crash had all lanes of northbound 71 blocked for a long time, with cars being route don to Ronald Reagan Highway. Crews had the scene cleared by 12:30 p.m.

Anna M. Gardner, 51, of Miami Township, Clermont County was identified as the driver of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the semi, Kenneth Cripps, 45, and the passenger, Kevin Lane, 28, both residents of Memphis, Tennessee, were taken to Bethesda North Hospital.  Police hadn't heard who they were doing as of Saturday afternoon. The accident remains under investigation.
