City council meeting will address black on black crime

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati City Council will address black on black crime during their meeting on Monday night.

After looking at crime statistics in Cincinnati, Councilmen Chris Smitherman and Charlie Winburn are asking fellow council members to help stop the violence. Smitherman and Winburn introduced a motion calling for the city administration to allocate $300,000 to fund an initiative to increase awards to entice citizens to cooperate in solving murders.

"This is the first series of solutions that Council Member Winburn and I will submit to fight murders but specifically the high percentage of Black on Black murders.  A person who murders must understand that there is a high probability that they will be caught and brought to justice.  This will begin to deter a person from picking up a gun and taking the life of another human being," Smitherman said.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Monday.
