Remke bigg's closing northernmost location

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Remke bigg's plans to close their Mason location.

On Tuesday, the grocer announced plans to close their location at 9600 Mason-Montgomery Road.

This move comes as a result of underperforming sales and profitability since Remke Markets purchased bigg's in 2010.

Of the 14 Greater Cincinnati locations, the Mason location is the only one the chain is intending to close.

Remke bigg's management anticipates the final closing date to be in late May or early June, depending on the liquidation of current inventory.

Current store associates will have the opportunity to meet with the human resources team to explore available positions in other Remke bigg's Ohio and Kentucky store locations.

Those employees who aren't able to work at another store will receive outplacement support and some associates will receive severance benefits.

The Mason store location employs 66 associates.

Liquidation of the current merchandise will begin Monday, April 30th , during which time Remke bigg's will continue to supply limited perishables.

Beginning Wednesday, April 25, those with prescriptions at the Mason store pharmacy must go to the Mason Target location located at 9841 Waterstone Blvd, Cincinnati, OH  45249 to pick up their prescriptions.

The phone number for the Target Pharmacy is (513) 677-3879.
