BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -
A judge denied a request to lower the bond for a Walton man considered a person of interest in the death of an Aurora, Indiana woman.

Charles "Stevie" Stephenson was arraigned in Boone Circuit Court on unrelated charges of tampering with evidence and drug trafficking Wednesday.

Stephenson's Public Defender Steve Florian entered not guilty pleas on both charges.

The judge considered lowering Stephenson's bond, but Boone County Commonwealth Attorney Linda Tally-Smith objected.

Tally-Smith said in court that Stephenson may have been the last person to see Leigh Jennings alive.

Aurora Police say Jennings was beaten and killed on March 29, but her body wasn't discovered until a week later.

Stephenson was friends with Jennings.

Stephenson is also the nephew of Boone County unsolved murder victims, Bill and Peggy Stephenson.

They were killed nearly a year ago in their Florence home and the case remains unsolved.
