TANNER, AL (WAFF) -

The devastation from the April tornadoes covered many parts of the Valley. One neighborhood hit hard was off Rosie Road in Limestone County.

After months of work, some families are back in their new homes trying to make new memories.

Diane Wilson stood in her hallway of her new home to show where she was in her old home when the April tornados hit.

"I could hear everything break and cracking," Wilson said.  "It seemed like it went on forever but I know it was just a few minutes. But I didn't think when I raised up that my house would be gone and it was just the worst feeling I have ever felt in my life. To just close your eyes, you open them and everything you've ever had is gone except your family, friends and the clothes on your back."

After the twister took Wilson's home of 15 years, she went to work to rebuild and start a new normal.

"I just worked every weekend picking up debris and I just thank God that I am where I am today. You wouldn't believe how exciting it is to see grass coming up," she said.  "That's so bad to see something like your grass coming up and it's exciting."

Thankful for all that she has, Wilson shares what it's like to come full circle one year later.

"I know I'm blessed and everything is back like it should be, but on the inside, I don't think I'll be the same person ever again. It just did something to me that I don't think I'll ever be able to get over," she said.

Wilson and her neighbors are holding a coming back home party off Rosie Road in Tanner Saturday night at 6 p.m. There will be games, food and music.  At 8 p.m., a vigil will be held to honor the lives that were lost.
