Three trucks from the Cincinnati Fire Department battled a fire Friday in Columbia Tusculum.
Trucks were called to 3200 block of Riverside Drive around 11:15 am. According to the Cincinnati Fire Department, arriving fire units found heavy fire from the rear of the first floor and heavy smoke from the eaves of the two story with attic, single family dwelling. Fire companies made an aggressive interior attack to knock down the bulk of the fire on the first floor but the fire had already extended into the second floor and attic via the interior walls.
A second alarm was called due to the labor intensive process of opening up all ceilings and walls to check for and extinguish the fire.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but three dogs were killed.
Crews fought the fire for over an hour before getting it out.
