Five Spice Tilapia

Five Spice Tilapia

Makes 4 servings
4 tilapia filets
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1/2 cup chopped red onion
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
salt and pepper
five spice powder*
Combine the red pepper, onion, canola oil, rice wine vinegar, cilantro, and salt and pepper.
Brush the fish fillets with a little canola oil, on both  sides and season with salt, pepper, and five spice powder to taste.  Pan sear the fish to desired doneness.  Serve with the red pepper and onion mixture.  Enjoy!
*Five spice powder is used extensively in Chinese cuisine.  It is mixture of five spices in equal parts and finely ground.  The most used combination is cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed, star anise and szechuan peppercorns.  It can be found in the spice or Asian aisle of most large supermarkets.
