SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) - Community members gathered to dance for a good cause on Saturday.
The first annual Dancing for Down Syndrome Zumbathon was held at Heritage Hills Elementary School. Participants danced from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost was $25 and the proceeds will benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati. Zumbathon participants received a commemorative t-shirt and a goodie bag.
"As the top fundraising team for DSAGC, we are excited to add another great event to our annual fundraising efforts and we're even more excited to bring additional awareness to such an important organization," said Pamela Butler, Captain of Team D.O.T. and Coordinator of DSAGC Extended Family and Friends Satellite Group.
Team D.O.T. was formed in 2006 by Butler when her nephew was born with Down syndrome. They sponsor several fundraising events and provide support to families affected by Down syndrome.
