CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local high schools teamed up for a good cause on Sunday.
St. Ursula Academy, Ursuline Academy, St. Xavier High School and Archbishop Moeller High School competed in the Orange and White Flag Football Game to raise money for those who suffer from leukemia and lymphoma.
"I believe this game is important because it is promoting community service for a good cause as well as having fun and uniting the schools together, said Giana Dawod, a senior at Ursuline.
Dawod, Rachel Kelly, also a senior at Ursuline, Grace Bolan, Kelli Miller and Dawn Thomas, seniors at St. Ursula, have been involved in all aspects of organizing the event.
While the girls' schools competed in the flag football game, a group of students from Moeller provided cheerleaders for Ursuline and a group from St. X did the same for St. Ursula.
Last year, the event raised nearly $10,000. Dawod says the goal is to raise at least $15,000 this year.
