Hockey player accused of plot could be returned to St. Louis today
A National Hockey League player accused in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme has reportedly agreed to be returned to the St. Louis area to face charges. Mike Danton could be returned from San Jose, California, perhaps as early as today. He was arrested in San Jose last week after the St. Louis Blues were knocked out of the NHL playoffs. Danton and a 19-year-old woman have been charged with conspiracy and using a telephone across state lines to set up a murder. Katie Wolfmeyer's uncle says their family is torn up by the charges. He says his niece is a "very frightened young lady." Authorities allege the 23-year-old Danton was plotting the killing of an acquaintance he feared was going to try to ruin his hockey career.
