Church Moves Wednesday Night Service

Church once attended by kidnapped soldier prays for his return

So many people want to pray for a captured Ohio soldier that a Batavia church is moving its Wednesday night service to a city park. About 900 people attended services yesterday at First Baptist Church of Glen Este, close to where Keith "Matt" Maupin grew up 20 miles east of Cincinnati. Pastor Brent Snook spoke about patience during his sermon and encouraged everyone to have hope. Clermont County officials asked the church to hold its Wednesday evening service outdoors so the whole community can take part. Maupin was captured April ninth near Baghdad. Footage shown Friday on Arab television showed him surrounded by armed insurgents.
