Fairfield police warn residents of recent car break-ins
FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -
The Fairfield Township Police Department is warning residents of an alarming rate of recent car thefts.
Police say more than 30 vehicle break-ins have occurred over the past two weeks. They say residents should not leave anything of value in their vehicles as thieves go from vehicle to vehicle at night looking for valuable items.
Criminals may break into a vehicle even if the items are not in plain sight. Authorities say the criminals often look for signs, such as suction cup marks on the windshield to indicate a GPS device may be inside.
Police are reminding residents to record the serial numbers on valuables in case they are stolen then recovered.
