Survey: Hiring improvements -- and possible inflation signs
Experts who track the economy for major companies say employment is rising -- but so are inflation pressures. The National Association for Business Economics says 21 percent of its members who took part in a new survey indicate that hiring is increasing, and that's up from 18 percent in a survey three months ago. Association president Duncan Meldrum says employment is improving, thanks to solid economic growth. Meldrum says the economy is definitely in a recovery mode -- but one potential risk from that rebound is higher inflation. The members of his group report that selling prices and the costs of materials have gone up noticeably for the second straight quarter. And, an index of wage and salary increases that's based on the survey has hit its highest level in almost three years.
