Kroger presented the proceeds from their Fourth Quarter Coin Box Program and the Check Out Hunger campaign in Newport on Wednesday.
Kroger begins coin box collections in the Fourth Quarter of each year to benefit St. Vincent de Paul and the launch the Check Out Hunger campaign to benefit the Freestore Foodbank and Shared Harvest Foodbank.
"Each of these three food banks serve thousands of our neighbors every year," said Scot Hendricks, Vice President of Merchandising for Kroger's Cincinnati/Dayton Division. "Check Out Hunger and the coin box program have proven to be very successful for us and Kroger customers never disappoint with their generosity even in these difficult economic times."
Kroger presented more than $176,000 dollars to the local food banks.
