HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

Police discovered a meth lab in a Hamilton home on Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the building in the 1700 block of Grand Blvd. around 9:30 a.m. to reports of smoke, but found the meth lab instead.

The resident of the downstairs apartment, Charles Cox, had two bags containing white powder, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Authorities say the residence is now safe as the dangerous chemicals have been removed.

Cox was arrested and charged with Drug Abuse, felony in the fifth degree, for possession of methamphetamine and Illegal Manufacturing Drugs, a felony in the first degree.

He was taken to the Butler County Jail.
