Crews extinguish car and house fire in Fairmount

FAIRMOUNT, OH (FOX19) - Crews responded to reports of a burning building which had been struck by a car in Fairmount early Sunday morning.

Fire crews found a working one-alarm fire and a car which struck the home in the 2700 block of Robert Ave. around 2 a.m. Crews quickly put out the car fire and found no one inside. Crews then moved inside the home to attack the fire. Crews worked on the scene for more than two and a half hours.

The family who lives in the house got out safely and was helped by the Red Cross. The driver of the car was treated for a minor injury.

None of the 32 firefighters on scene reported any injuries.

The house had about $20,000 worth of damage and the car had about $3,000 worth of damage. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
