WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -
Ryan Widmer's defense team has filed a new appeal in hopes of getting a fourth trial.
The appeal focuses on the lead detective in the case former Lieutenant Jeff Braley. He has since resigned from the Hamilton Township Police Department after being accused of lying on his application with the department.
Widmer was found guilty of his wife's murder in 2009, but the verdict was tossed due to juror misconduct. The jury was hung in the second trial. Widmer is currently serving 15 years to life in the Warren Correctional Institution after being convicted by a jury in his third trial.
Widmer's team previously filed an appeal for a fourth trial claiming authorities removed the bathtub from Widmer's home without a warrant.
