Local ROTC Seniors to be Commissioned as Second Lieutenants

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Seniors from Xavier University, Miami University, and Northern Kentucky University who are part of the All For One ROTC Battalion will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army. The ceremony will be held on Friday May 11th at 9:00 a.m., in the Schiff Conference Facility of Cintas Center. Battalion Commander, LTC Shane Ousey will preside over his last commissioning ceremony at Xavier University as his tour here has ended. His new 2LT are:

Xavier University Cadets Commissioning Spring 2012

  • Bradley Martin will graduate from Xavier University with an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science. Brad is from Union, KY and will branch Aviation and attend BOLC at Fort Rucker, Alabama. While at Xavier Brad participated in Pershing Rifles and held leadership positions including Squad Leader, First Sergeant and Company Commander. In addition to ROTC, Brad participated in Senior Classical League, Eta Sigma Phi and studied abroad.
  • Arzell West-Estell will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Chemical Sciences. Arzell is from Toledo, Ohio, as is his sister Marcea West-Estell. Arzell will branch Engineer Corps. While in ROTC Arzell was assistant Operations Officer, Executive Officer and participated in Pershing Rifles. Outside of ROTC, he was President of Black Student Association (BSA), a Senator in Student Government, a member in the Gentleman Organized for Achievement and Leadership, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.
  • David Harper will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in International Business with a minor in French. David is from Liberty Township, Ohio, as is his brother Eric. David will branch Military Intelligence Corps, branch detail Infantry, and attend Infantry BOLC at Fort Benning, Georgia. While in ROTC David participated in Ranger Challenge and Pershing Rifles and held leadership positions including Battalion Executive Officer and Battalion Commander. Outside ROTC David participated in the Xavier Cycling team, Club Volleyball and volunteered for the American Legion Boys State and Boys Nation programs.
  • Charles Eiser will graduate from Xavier University with degrees in Social Sciences and Criminal Justice. Charles is from Loveland, Ohio and will branch as an Engineer and serve with the 450th Engineer Co, United States Army Reserve, Fort Thomas, KY. While in ROTC Charles participated in Ranger Challenge and Pershing Rifles, and held leadership positions of First Sergeant, Ranger Commander, MSIII Trainer and Company Commander.
  • Shaun Redden will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Political Science. Shaun, as a military child, has been all over the United States and Europe, but calls Cincinnati, Ohio, his hometown as do his two siblings, Jeffrey and Erin. Shaun will branch Adjutant General Corps, branch detail Armor, and will attend Armor BOLC at Fort Benning, Georgia. While in ROTC Shaun participated in Best Ranger, the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency and served on the Military Ball 2011 Committee. He also held leadership positions including First Sergeant, Operations NCO and Operations Officer. Outside of ROTC Shaun interned at the U.S. Department of State, played Club Tennis and volunteered at Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati.
  • James Boyd will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in History. James is from Cincinnati, as are siblings Brad and Claire. James will branch Ordnance and attend BOLC at Fort Lee, Virginia. While in ROTC, James participated in Pershing Rifles and held leadership positions including: Squad Leader, Command Sergeant Major, Personnel Officer and Battalion Commander.
  • Shari Jarvis will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. Shari was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Her siblings are Michele Hart, and Simba, Orita, Zenika and Ulrika Jarvis. Shari will branch Military Police Corps and attend BOLC at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and report to her first duty station with the OHARNG in Middletown, Ohio. While in ROTC, Shari held leadership positions including: MSIII trainer, First Sergeant and Company Executive Officer. Outside of ROTC Shari participated in Xavier Symphonic Winds Ensemble and the Pep Band.
  • Lola Oxendine will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Liberal Arts. Lola is from Cincinnati, as is her sister Lauren. She will branch Quartermaster Corps and report to BOLC at Fort Lee, Virginia and then go to her first duty station the 209th QM Co in Lafayette, Indiana. While in ROTC Lola was the Plans NCO, Logistics NCO, Military Ball 2011 Officer, and Operations Officer, Assistant MSIII trainer and attended the 2012 Reserve Officer Association's National Security Symposium in Washington D.C. She also maintained three jobs in addition to ROTC.
  • Joseph Piaskowski will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Nursing. From Proctorville, Ohio he has 9 siblings, Abby, Dan, Jane, Mary, John, Tom, Maggie, Anne and Katie. Joe will be become an Army Nurse when he commissions in May. While at Xavier he was on the Ranger Challenge Team. He served as the Battalion Sergeant Major, Bravo Company Executive Officer, and an Assistant MS III Trainer.
  • Daniel Shea will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Organizational Communication. Daniel grew up in Saline, Michigan with sisters Evelyn and Alice. He will branch Transportation Corps and report to BOLC at Ft. Lee, Virginia. While in ROTC, Daniel participated in Best Ranger, Pershing Rifles, helped plan the Military Ball 2011, and attended Army Airborne School. Daniel has held leadership positions as Personnel NCO and Officer, Squad Leader and Company Executive Officer.
  • Michelle Neyer will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Nursing. Michelle is from Ann Arbor, Michigan as are her siblings Seon Pringle and Jeffrey Stanton. Michelle will branch Nurse Corps and report to her first duty station at the 349th Combat Support Hospital USAR in Bell, California. While in ROTC Michelle was a Squad Leader and Civil Affairs Officer. Outside ROTC, she served as Hostess and Parliamentarian for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and has conducted over one hundred hours of community service.
  • Jordan Marks will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Theology. Jordan is from Blissfield, Michigan as are siblings Amelia, Lynsie, Reggie, Reagan and A.J. Jordan will branch Armor and will attend BOLC at Ft Benning, GA. He participated in Rangers and Pershing Rifles. While in ROTC Jordan held leadership positions including Command Sergeant Major, Supply Officer, Company Commander and Commanding Officer of Pershing Rifles. Outside ROTC, Jordan participated in Navigators Bible Study, and intramural sports.
  • Lillian Hague will graduate from Xavier University with a degree in Nursing. Lillian is from Hampton Bays, New York, as are her siblings CPT William Hague, 1LT Jack Hague, 2LT Henry Hague, Katherine and Celia Hague. She will branch Nurse Corps and attend BOLC at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. While in ROTC she participated in the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency, attended Airborne School and Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP). Lillian was a Company Commander and Battalion Executive Officer and played intramural sports and Club Lacrosse outside of ROTC.
  • Sascha Miller will graduate from Miami University with a degree in Sports Studies, Kinesiology and Health. He calls Gunzburg, Germany his hometown, and will branch Armor and attend BOLC at Fort Benning, Georgia. While in ROTC, Sascha held leadership positions including Miami Executive Officer and Assistant MSIII Trainer. Outside ROTC, he played Division One football for the Miami Redhawks.
  • Cameron Roberts will graduate from Miami University with a degree in Psychology. Cameron is from Louisville, Kentucky as are his brothers Grant, Austin and Drew. He will branch Armor and following BOLC at Ft Benning will serve with the D Co 1-145th AR RGT, OHARNG. While in ROTC Cameron held leadership positions including: Squad Leader, Miami First Sergeant, Detachment Operations Officer, and Detachment Commander. Outside ROTC he participated on the Miami University Boxing Team and is the Ritual Chair of the Alpha chapter of Sigma Chi.
  • Nathan Quinn will graduate from Miami University with a degree in Mass Communication. Nathan grew up in Cincinnati living with his grandparents. While in ROTC Nathan participated in Best Ranger and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency, as well as held leadership positions including Squad Leader, Intelligence Officer, Miami First Sergeant and Detachment Commander. Outside of ROTC Nathan held two jobs and is currently engaged.
  • Zachary Smart will graduate from Miami University with a degree in Political Science. Zachary enlisted in 2007 and participated in the Army Simultaneous Membership Program and is from Eaton, Ohio, as are his brothers Jacob and Lucas. Zachary will branch Military Police Corps, and will report to his first duty station with the 324th MP Co, USAR in Troy, Ohio. While in ROTC, Zachary held leadership positions including: Squad Leader, Operations NCO, Intelligence Officer and Company XO.
  • Joseph Davis will graduate from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, with a concentration in middle grades math and special education. Joseph is from Elizabethtown, Kentucky as are siblings Parker, Tyler and Kathryn. While in ROTC Joseph was assigned the duty of Squad Leader, Company Executive Officer and Assistant MSIII trainer. In addition to ROTC Joseph served as Safety Officer and President for NKU Club Baseball and mentored in NKU's education department. Upon graduation Joseph will be assigned as a Platoon Leader in B Battery, 623rd Fires Battalion of the KYARNG in Campbellsville, KY.
  • Charles Henry will graduate from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Computer Science. Charles is from Independence, Kentucky as are his siblings Joshua Henry and Evan and Jack Berry. Charles enlisted in 2006, and is commissioning through the Army Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). Charles will branch Signal Corps and serve with the 138th Signal Company, KYARNG in Lexington, KY. While in ROTC he held leadership positions including Squad Leader and Communications Officer. Outside of ROTC Charles holds a full-time job and plans to begin his own business.

The speaker for the Commissioning Ceremony is Major General William G. Beard, Deputy Commanding General for United States Army Reserve, United States Army Pacific, since July 21, 2011.
