Kasich visits local brewery to promote the positive impact of new brewing law

MT. CARMEL, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio Governor John Kasich was in the Tri-State on Monday to highlight the benefits of the change in the laws for microbrews.

Kasich visited the Mt. Carmel Brewing Company for a tour of the facility.

Before December of 2011, state brewers were required to buy one permit to make their product and another to introduce it to customers.  Now that Kasich has signed the new law there is no additional fee for breweries to make the product available to their customers.

Mt. Carmel Brewing Companies owner says the change in the state law has cuts the additional fee and a number of requirements that were barring breweries from allowing samples for customers.

Now that those restrictions have been lifting the Mt. Carmel Brewery and many others have opened new tasting rooms. These rooms are similar to wine tasting rooms.
