Quinlivan and residents continue improvements on Purple People Bridge

The Purple People Bridge will continue its facelift Friday morning.

Councilmember Laure Quinlivan is hoping to beautify the Ohio side of the bridge with the help of local residents.

Volunteers from Duke Energy, downtown residents and volunteer artists will be painting benches and planters, planting flowerpots, landscaping the Path to the Taft as well as painting a wall mural.

The mural will portray, "Cincinnati, the City that Sings," part of the councilmember's effort to promote the World Choir Games in Cincinnati this summer.

Quilivan has managed to get private citizen sponsorship of more than $25,000 for the project.

The beautification of Ohio's side of the bridge is also part of Mayor Mallory's 2012 Corporate Challenge.
