CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A young child is shot and her mother and step-father are accused of trying to cover it up.
Police got a call that a 7-year-old girl was hit in a drive-by shooting.
Police investigated and instead discovered that the child was shot while playing with a gun with her 3-year-old brother.
Officers say her step-dad, Ricky Singleton, left his gun on the bed and his kids found it.
Police say after the shooting, the parents of the kids, Singleton and Tangie Jackson, made the injured little girl and her siblings walk half a mile before calling 9-1-1.
Cincinnati police believe this was an attempt to cover up the shooting because the children were told to tell the police that it was a drive-by.
Singleton and Jackson are both charged with child endangerment and tampering with evidence.
