Cincinnati, OH (FOX19) - The Washington Nationals continued to dominate teams with pitching, beating the Reds 2-1 Saturday. Jordan Zimmerman gave up a first inning run then shutout the Reds for the next six innings and finished with nine strikeouts.
Two solo home runs was all the offense Washington needed. Wilson Ramos homered off Matt Latos in the fifth and Danny Espinosa went deep against Jose Arredondo to start the sixth. The Reds lone run came on a fielder's choice in the first inning. Brandon Phillips drove in Zach Cozart.
Latos only gave up three hits and one run but left after five innings having thrown 109 pitches.
The series wraps up on Sunday with Bronson Arroyo throwing against Edwin Jackson.
