Exchange Students-Beer

Judge throws out parents' suit against school district

A federal judge says there is no constitutional reason that a suburban Cincinnati high school cannot discipline students who drank alcohol on a school-sponsored trip to Germany -- even if they had permission from their parents to sample the local beer. Seventeen Mariemont High School students had been given detentions and ordered to do community service for breaking school rules. The students and their parents said the school left the decision about drinking to them and then changed the rules after a few students drank too much.
