HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Nearly 50 car owners woke up Wednesday morning to find their car windows shattered.
"It appears that somebody is driving around with a BB gun or a pellet gun shooting out car windows," said Officer Kristy Collins, spokesperson for the Hamilton Police Dept. "A couple house windows were hit as well."
On Wednesday morning residents along Oakmont Ave. began cleaning up the damage.
"Damage is damage. And things that you need to drive and get around in, now water can get in," said LeRoy Sapp, resident on Oakmont Ave.
The driver side windows were shattered on most cars parked along the street. On a few cars the windows weren't completely shattered. Police say vandalism of this nature is rare in Hamilton.
"We get car break-ins a lot, throughout the city, something like this with so many victims is pretty odd," said Collins. "With the vandalism like this with them shooting out the windows, that's odd here."
35 vehicles within the Hamilton city limits sustained damage and nearly 15 cars were damaged just outside of the city limits. The Butler County Sheriff's Office is handling those cases.
"Hopefully somebody has heard or knows something and comes forward to let somebody know," said Sapp.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamilton Police Department or Crimestoppers.
