Foiled Injured police officer foils theft from unconscious man in Detroit
You may think there's never a police officer around when you need one -- but an unconscious man at a Michigan hospital can be thankful there was one nearby. Police in Highland Park say officer James Lant was having his knee treated at Henry Ford Hospital when he saw another patient apparently trying to steal a watch from an unconscious man on a gurney. Lant says the thief pulled back the sheet covering the man -- and shook him first, to make sure he wasn't conscious. The officer says he interrupted the theft by identifying himself as an officer, and calling for security. The suspect has been arraigned on a larceny charge.
