A CIA official says the agency believes the recording of Osama bin Laden offering cash rewards for the assassination of top officials is authentic. The voice on the recording offers ten-thousand grams of gold for the death of US administrator Paul Bremer. It also puts bounties on the heads of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Iraq envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. The CIA official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says the agency has analyzed the recording and believes the voice is Bin Laden's. The 20-minute recording appeared on two websites known for militant Islamic messages. Ten-thousand grams of gold is worth about 125-thousand dollars at current prices.
