FRANKFORT, KY (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled to give Kentucky Republicans a pep talk at the state GOP's annual Lincoln Day Dinner.
The Saturday evening appearance comes just days ahead of Kentucky's primary election.
Christie had been touted as a potential presidential candidate in this year's Republican primary, but he opted not to enter the race.
He still is being talked about as a potential vice presidential running mate.
His visit has captured the attention of Democrats who distributed a statement accusing Christie of "pandering to the extreme right wing base."
The Republican dinner is being held at the Marriott Griffin Gate hotel in Lexington.
