High school students compete in the Law Enforcement Explorer Competition

More than 200 local high school students got some real world law enforcement experience on Sunday.

Explorer Cadets competed in team and individual challenges including traffic crash investigation, bike patrol and crisis negotiations in the annual Law Enforcement Explorer Competition.

"A lot of people who are here as advisors and role players, they were Explorers and this is how they got their start in law enforcement so this is an opportunity for them to give back to the community," said Jeff Sprague, event organizer.

Participants train weekly with police officers to help them to make future career decisions.
