Oooh Monday...how we've missed you so much...
We had such a beautiful weekend here in the tri-state, but that doesn't seem to be the case for your start to the work week. Meteorologist Katy Morgan is saying that a weak cold front will be making its way through the area, causing a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. None of these storms are expected to be severe, but you should still watch out for a few pockets of heavy rain. You can tune-in and watch Katy and Frank live beginning at 4 a.m. for your current weather conditions and a complete seven-day forecast.
Aside from your normal commute of being on and off the brakes, another traffic headache will start up today. A two-year construction project aimed at improving the congested areas in Norwood begins this morning and will close down Ibsen Avenue between Marburg and Ridge on weekdays. Crews will also be working on Duck Creek Road between Ridge and Kennedy, causing that area to go down to one lane. Stephanie Woods will have the very latest on the Kennedy Connector project as well as keeping you up-to-date with Traffic Tracker for your morning commute.
Speaking of being on the road, police all over the tri-state are beefing up patrols as we get closer to Memorial Day and the official start of summer. Starting at 4:30 a.m., Dan Wells will be out live with more on the "Click it or Ticket" campaign to hopefully help you avoid hefty tickets and fines.
The Cincinnati Police Dept. has made an arrest on the city's 18th homicide of 2012. 21-year-old Christopher Williams is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Demarco Thompson on Saturday in the 5000 block of Winneste Avenue. Sheila Gray and Rob Williams will have more on this story starting at 5 a.m.
Along with the beautiful weather came a great weekend for our Reds who left New York with two wins against the Yankees. In last night's game, the teams were tied in the seventh inning but turned it around with two runs in the ninth to bring a 5-2 win back to Cincinnati. Hopefully our boys will keep it up as they take on the Atlanta Braves tonight at home. First pitch is at 7:10.
Have you ever heard of or taken on the cinnamon challenge? If you look it up on YouTube, you'll find over 35,000 related videos of people, mostly teens, gagging and choking on a spoonful of cinnamon. Dr. Deb will be in the house to talk about what started as a prank is now sending more and more kids to the emergency room at 7:45 a.m.
I'm not sure if Frank Marzullo will be using cinnamon in his recipe or not, but it's his turn this morning on the FOX19 grill-off competition! From seeing his blogs, it looks like he might not be too shabby in the kitchen but we'll see about when it comes to a grill. Tune in at 8:15 to see what our weather-loving Italian can come up with and knowing Frank, this could be pretty entertaining!
