Prescription drug misuse is on the rise in Ohio

HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Accidental drug poisoning or overdosing is the leading cause of death in the Buckeye state, more than traffic accidents according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Monday night, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, hosted a town hall meeting to raise awareness of pain pills addiction in Hamilton County.

"There has been about a 1,000 percent increase, a ten fold increase in the use of OxyContin and other narcotic painkillers in our healthcare system," says Orman Hall the director of the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.
