FBI wants to help you find your child

In connection with National Missing Children's Day, the FBI has launched a free Child ID mobile application for Android devices.

The FBI Child ID App provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your children so that it's readily available in the unlikely event that a child goes missing.

Whether it's a toddler wandering away at the mall or a teen who has been snatched by a stranger, with the Child ID App, you can immediately share pictures and physical identifiers with security or police officers on the scene.

Using a special tab on the app, you can also quickly and easily e-mail the information to authorities with a few clicks.  In addition, the personal information can be password protected to ensure private information is not revealed in case the mobile device is lost or stolen.

The app also includes tips on keeping children safe as well as specific guidance on what to do in those first few crucial hours after a child goes missing.

The FBI Child ID App for Android devices is available for download for free from Google Play at:

An iPhone version of the FBI Child ID App was released previously and has been downloaded by over 121,000 users.  It is available for free at the App Store on iTunes.
