Thousands attend 500 Festival parade in Indy

Thousands of people have braved hot conditions in downtown Indianapolis for the 500 Festival Parade.

Gov. Mitch Daniels rode a Harley-Davidson motorcycle alongside the Patriot Guard riders. Purdue University's band was one of 13 participating in the parade Saturday.

The starting field of 33 drivers for Sunday's Indianapolis 500 also participated the day before the race. Singer and actress Olivia Newton-John served as grand marshal.

The National Weather Service says the temperature was at least 85 in Indianapolis when the parade began at noon.
