Fourth grade boy runs lemonade stand to help homeless kids

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A local boy is trying to help homeless children in the Tri-State by selling lemonade on Sunday.

Fourth-grader Max McMillen visited The Welcome House of Northern Kentucky during a field trip and decided he wanted to do something to help the children living at The Welcome House's Emergency Shelter. He opened a lemonade stand at Otto's in Covington to raise money.

"My mom said I can do a lemonade stand if I came up with a good reason to do it and this sounded like the perfect reason," said McMillen.

They are currently 15 adults and 17 kids living at the shelter. More than 300 women and children stayed in the shelter last year.
