A grass fire in Smith County that scorched approximately five to seven acres is contained according to Dixie Fire Department.

According to officials the fire started in the 19100 block of County Road 1108 on private property backed to the Villages East community near Noonday.

The structures that were originally threatened were the houses the property backed up to. They are now safe. A small shed on the property was the only structure damaged in the fire.

Smith County Fire Marshals have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

The land owner said he was burning trash on his property one day ago, however, Fire Marshals have not confirmed that that was the cause.
