UPDATE: Police ID man killed in Beechmont Ave crash

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Police have identified the man killed in a fatal accident that shut down Beechmont Avenue, near Columbia Parkway on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are saying that John Schneider, 64, was driving a van eastbound on the Beechmont Levy when he crossed center and hit a truck driven by Phil Sloan, 60, just after 2:30 p.m. Debris from the truck struck another vehicle driven by Joseph Poore, 41, heading eastbound on Beechmont.

Schneider was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. No one else involved in the accident was injured. Both Sloan and Poore were wearing their seat belts.

Witnesses to the accident say they saw the man driving the van swerving before crashing into the truck.

Cincinnati Police and Cincinnati coroner are currently investigating. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to called the Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.

Speed is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
