A Louisville man pleads guilty to the 2010 beating death of a Northern Kentucky native.

Justin Werner was charged with manslaughter in the death of Bryan Stevenson, 26, on May 30, 2010, but pled guilty to assault under extreme emotional disturbance.

In addition to the assault charge, Werner entered guilty pleas to trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stevenson, was in Louisville to play in a softball tournament. He was killed after a fight broke out in the parking lot of Barbara Lee's Kitchen at 2410 Brownsboro Road.

In testimony, one of the men with Werner, William Schindler, said Werner and his friends were trying to leave the restaurant, but Stevenson wouldn't leave them alone and someone spit on Werner.

Prosecutors dropped charges against Schindler. The two other men, Donald Hayes and David Pryor, took plea deals in exchange for their testimony during Werner's trial.

Werner will be sentenced in June 4. He is expected to receive three years in prison.
