The man whose assault led to a foot chase that put one Reading police officer in the hospital was in court Friday morning.

Bond for Ricky Gray, 48, was set at $250,000.

Officers responded to reports of an assault on a female at Eddie's Café in the 9100 block of Reading Road just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Reading Police Officer Daniel Flottermesch was chasing Gray on foot when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Reading Road and Mechanic Street.

Officials say the driver that hit Officer Flottermesch stayed with him until paramedics arrived.

Flottermesch remains at University Hospital in serious condition.

Gray was at large until Wednesday afternoon when he was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of official business and felonious assault.

The chief tells FOX19 the driver of the vehicle that hit Flottermesch will not be charged.

Flottermesch is 30-years-old and has been with the Reading police for two years.
