Two Charged After Boy Found Wandering

Police in the eastern Clermont County village of Bethel have charged two adults with child endangering after a three year old boy was found alone at about 9am Saturday. Police say an officer on patrol found the boy playing in a water-filled ditch. The boy was unable to to guide officers to his home, and after unsuccessfully asking neighbors about him they turned him over to Child Protective Services for Clermont County.

Police say the child's mother Ruby Sparks called them several hours after the search began and told them she had seen the boy at 11am, two hours after police had picked him up. They say she gave ten dollars to a man she had known a few weeks to watch the boy along with another child, 19 months old, in his apartment while she went out Saturday night. They say that man, Charles Trumble, didn't adequately watch the boy and he along with Sparks has been charged. Police say the county is also looking at whether Trumble's apartment was a safe place for children.
