CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The Reds drafted a high school pitcher with the 14th overall pick in the 2012 Major League draft.
Nick Travieso (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) is considered by scouts to be a "power pitching" right hander. Clocked as high as 99 mph on the radar gun, Travieso struck out 100 batters his senior year in high school.
He is committed to play college baseball at the University of Miami, but said Monday night he looks forward to starting his professional career.
The Reds also drafted outfielders Jesse Winker and Jeffrey Gelalich in the compensatory portion of the first round.
Rounds 2-39 of the MLB draft are Tuesday and Wednesday.
