AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - A fire that broke out around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning at 518 Hale Avenue in Avondale is now under control.
The fire started on the third floor of a three-story building. At least 20 people had to be rescued by aerial and ground ladders from third floor windows.
Residents from the first and second floors were able to evacuate the building on their own.
A second alarm was requested due to the high life hazard and the labor intensive job of rescuing occupants via ladders.
No injuries have been reported. The Red Cross is assisting those who have been displaced.
Damage is estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
