MONROE COUNTY, PA (FOX19) -

A West Chester man has been arrested following an online sex crimes investigation in Pennsylvania.

Officials in Monroe County, PA began an undercover investigation in May where they entered online chat rooms to locate and identify individuals using the Internet to gain access to, seduce and entice children for the purposes of sexual exploitation.

Det. Brian Webbe was posing as a 15 year old female, and was contacted by Kaustubh Kukday, who said he was a 26 year old male from Ohio, but would be visiting Scranton in early June.

During the ensuing online conversation, Kukday asked Det. Webbe to meet him in the Stroudsburg area and have sex with him.  Over the next few weeks, Kukday repeatedly contacted Det. Webbe in that same chat room, and continued to discuss meeting and having sex with Detective Webbe, whom Kukday still thought was a 15 year old girl.

On June 7, 2012, Detective Webbe and Kukday arranged to meet in Stroud Township, Monroe County where the 15 year old girl would get in Kukday's car and they would go to another location to have sex.  When Kukday arrived at the meeting place, he was arrested.

Kukday subsequently admitted to traveling from his hotel in Wilkes-Barre with the intention of meeting a 15 year old girl and having sex with her.

Kukday was charged with attempted Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse (a Felony 1), Unlawful Contact With Minor (a Felony 1), attempted Aggravated Indecent Assault (a Felony 2), attempted Corruption of Minors (a Felony 3), and Criminal Use of Communication Facility (a Felony 3). He was arraigned and is behind bars in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $10,000 bail.
